In the first Saskatchewan Expression of Interest draw of 2020 held on January 9, Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) issued 308 invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The invitations were issued to candidates belonging to Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories of SINP. Of the total invitations issued, 142 went to candidates belonging to Express Entry sub-category and the remaining 166 invitations went to Occupations In-Demand candidates. The invited candidates of both the sub-categories had a minimum score of 69 on the Points Assessment Grid of Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan EOI selection process will often use a sequence that initiates by identifying those with highest point scores. If more than one applicant has same or equivalent scores to meet EOI draw, then selection will be applied according to connections of province, skilled work experience and official language ability.
Candidates who were selected from Occupation in demand category do not require a job offer letter. However, they must have a valid experience in one of the occupation in SINP demand list. Alongside, successful applicants will be awarded with additional 600 points towards their overall immigration points. Following table reveals figures updated by SINP:
Category | Score of Lowest Ranked Candidates to apply | Total Candidates to apply |
Express Entry System | 69 | 142 |
Occupations In Demand | 69 | 166 |

SINP now uses an expanded occupation list rather than an Occupation in-demand list. There are more than 200 eligible occupations that allow the province to be more flexible in response to the changes in the province’s labour market.
In the provincial draw of January 9th, invitations were issued to the candidates in 82 occupations. These occupations include managers in agriculture, administrative officers, and electronic service technicians for household and business equipment.
